Install FrequencyOS Connect on your WordPress site
This connects your WordPress site to FrequencyOS so your editable website fields, search fixes and posts can be updated from here, always on your staging site first.
1. Make a backup
In your host's dashboard (for WP Engine: the site, then Backup points, then Back up now), make a backup point. Name it "Before FrequencyOS".
2. Download the plugin
Your FrequencyOS contact sends you the plugin, or you download it from your site's Connect screen. It is a zip file. Do not unzip it. A downloaded copy pairs itself if you install it within 30 minutes.
3. Upload it to your staging site
Open your staging site's admin (for example yoursitestag.wpengine.com/wp-admin). Go to Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin. Choose the zip, press Install Now, then Activate.
4. Paste the site code if asked
Open Settings, FrequencyOS Connect. If it already says "Site connected", you are done. If not, paste the 16 character site code from FrequencyOS (it looks like F2ZA-36DH-GRRQ-33CG) and press Pair.
5. Check it turned green
Back in FrequencyOS, your staging site shows Connected. Only then do the same for your live site.
Good to know
- The plugin never edits your page layouts (Divi, Elementor or the block editor).
- Search fixes go into your SEO plugin's own fields (Rank Math, Yoast or All in One SEO), and every change can be undone.
- If the plugin is turned off, everything it did stays and the site keeps working.
- If a staging copy is copied over your live site, the plugin notices and stops until it is paired again.
Other ways to install
- Upload the zip by SFTP into wp-content/plugins and activate it in Plugins.
- With SSH and wp-cli: wp plugin install frequencyos-connect.zip --activate
